PC takes on the Eagles of Boston College tomorrow in the first ever Hartford Hall of Fame Showcase at the TD Banknorth Garden in Boston.
I like Providence in this one, especially when I look at the scouting report. Offensively, the Friars are hitting 50 percent of their shots. They are grabbing their missed shots for second chance points, and they're protecting the ball a little bit. On defense, Providence is still a little suspect because teams are effectively hitting around 50 percent of their shots, too. Still, PC is creating a ridiculous amount of turnovers, and BC is not protecting the ball that well. I don't know what happened to this New England rivalry (it probably disappeared when Boston College bolted for the Atlantic Coast Conference), but Eagles' turnovers give Providence the opportunity to outscore Boson in this one.

There's something about Bilal
The Providence Journal reported that PC filled its one scholarship when Queen of Peace High School's Bilal Dixon signed a national letter of intent with Providence College.
I don't want to sound skeptical, but I have a question surrounding Bilal Dixon's offer from the Friars. From what I gather, Providence; UNLV; Hofstra; Siena; St. John's; and LaSalle all held interest in this kid. Yet, I think we were the only school to offer him a scholarship. UNLV Head coach Lon Kruger even went to see him play, but left without a word. Why is that?

Providence vs. Maine post game analysis
Ken Pomeroy's game plan details how the Friars defeated Maine yesterday.
Providence took down Maine easily yesterday. Offensively, PC did an outstanding job. Providence effectively made 49 percent of all shots taken. They protected the ball well, gave themselves second chance opportunities to score by grabbing 43 percent of their missed shots, and went to the free throw line on 23 percent of their shot attempts. It may have bee who PC played, but defense was great as well. The Friars only allowed Maine take effectively hit 39 percent of their shots. They allowed the Black Bears to turn the ball over way too much, grabbed 65 percent of Maine's missed shots, and barely sent them to the free throw line. Indeed, Providence steamrolled Maine.
